Heights that weigh
Austral University - 2023

Together with three colleagues, we conducted a cross-sectional coverage of the collapse on February 8 in Caballito for the subject Multimodal Writing Workshop. Based on conversations with the protagonists of the event and visits to the scene, we managed to portray the conflict that caused the death of two siblings and prepared a site with four articles. In my case, I was responsible for reconstructing, in the format of a chronicle, the day of the collapse based on testimonies from the victims and the rescuers. In addition to the text, the article includes images, videos, and a sound reconstruction.
A moment-by-moment reconstruction of the tragedy of 8 February in Caballito
The day of the collapse on Pedro Goyena, according to the testimonies of those involved
The neighbours remember well what happened that day. “We already knew that this was going to happen, we just didn’t know when,” says Martina de Ines, a 20-year-old neighbour who had lived in the horizontal property (PH) with her mother since she was a child. On Thursday 8 February 2024, an open pit was covered with debris at 551 Pedro Goyena Avenue, Caballito. To its left, the old PH reflected the tragedy that had occurred in the last few hours. After conflicts with the construction company and complaints that were ignored, the neighbours sadly agree that what happened was not a surprise.
